What can be taken out differs by platform: Lovable and Bolt export real code, Bubble exports none, Replit and Base44 keep the back end behind, and Power Apps and Zoho Creator only run on the vendor's platform. Why the platform decides the route
What you hold at the moment the app stalls: the code, the data, the hosting, or none of them. That is set by the platform, and it decides whether the fastest route is to finish what exists or to rebuild from it.
Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit, FlutterFlow and the coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) produce ordinary code you can export or already hold. Base44, Power Apps and Zoho Creator run the app on their own platform; the data and the logic can be read out, the running system cannot. Bubble exports no code at all, so the app is rebuilt with the Bubble workflows as the specification. Zapier and Make are a case of their own: the automations became the system, and the work is to build the system they were standing in for.
What is usually missing
The screens are usually the finished part, and they are the specification for everything else. What the builder skipped is the engineering underneath: authorisation that keeps one customer's records from another, integrity rules in the database, a test and staging environment, error handling, backups, and a deployment in accounts the business owns rather than the builder's. On mobile, the store accounts and the signing keys. Each page lists what its platform tends to leave out.
The order of work
First, a home of its own: the code in your repository, the database and hosting in your accounts, the secrets rotated. Then the foundations above, put under the app while it keeps running as it is. Then the unfinished features, in order of value to the business, each released when it has been tested. Where the platform cannot be left, the same order applies to the rebuild, with the platform app kept running alongside until the new one has proven itself.

Questions
What people ask before they book.
Can you finish it inside the platform instead of moving it?
Where the app is internal, the stakes are modest and the platform's limits are not what stalled it, yes, and the Base44, Power Apps and Zoho Creator pages say when that is the better answer. Where the business depends on the app or needs to own the data and the code, it moves.
Does the app keep running while you take it over?
Yes. The takeover starts with a copy in your own accounts and a test environment. The version your team uses stays as it is until the new build has proven itself alongside it.
Do you need the person who built it?
Helpful for an hour, not required. The code, the data and the people who use the app carry enough of the story, and most takeovers happen without the original builder.
Which platforms aren't listed?
Airtable, Softr, Glide, Retool, AppSheet, Knack and Caspio have no page yet. They are hosted platforms, so the Base44, Power Apps and Zoho Creator pages describe the position: the data and the logic come out, the running app does not.
